Fred Mok – Lead Pastor

As a second-generation Chinese American who grew up in San Jose, Fred has always loved to ask questions. During high school, he and his family became followers of Jesus when they lived in Atlanta for his dad's work. After returning to San Jose, his parents helped launch Chinese Church in Christ - South Valley (CCIC-SV). After graduating from UC Berkeley, he worked at IBM and Hitachi for nine years. In 2006, he joined the pastoral staff of CCIC-SV and received his Masters of Divinity from Western Seminary a year later. In 2016, Fred joined Garden City Church as Associate Pastor and was sent out to plant a church in 2020.

Fred is husband to Judy and they have four children: Caleb, Micah, Abby, and Elliot. He enjoys reading about personal finance, dating, and behavioral economics, blogging about culture, playing sports with his boys, and dancing with his daughter.

Natalie Harmon– Worship Director

Natalie’s heart for worship started very young. She grew up as the daughter of a pastor and worship leader at a Chinese church where she participated in all things musical. She got her undergraduate degree from Carnegie Mellon University, where she studied communication design and human-computer interaction. While a student there, she was also a leader in her school’s InterVarsity chapter and co-ed Christian a cappella group Joyful Noise.

She is now a product designer and luckily gets to be creative in her day job as well as in her hobbies! She loves that the Creator of all things invites us to participate in creating with Him, and in her spare time tries to make space to write songs, draw, and capture the world around her. Natalie is known for her love of naps, soup, reading, and going on introvert dates with herself.

Daisy Hsieh – Miners Director

Quicksilver Miners is our ministry to children from 4 years old to 5th grade

Daisy holds a B.A. in Child and Adolescent Development and has a strong passion for education and counseling. She has a lot of experiences with working with children since high school, mostly through serving at the church she’s attending at the time. Inspired by her high school counselor, Ms. Burns, who provided crucial support during her formative years, Daisy decided to pursue a career in school counseling. She continues to maintain a close connection with Ms. Burns, visiting her high school from time to time. Daisy’s faith is an integral part of her life, as evident from her favorite Bible verse, 1 Corinthians 10:13. Daisy’s commitment to education, her admiration for her mentor, and her resilient spirit define her journey.

Vanessa Wright – Nursery Coordinator

Vanessa has a heart for sharing God's love with infants and children. She began her ministry training at Bible Study Fellowship where she served as a discussion leader, substitute teaching leader and children's leader. She also has 7 years of experience as a volunteer in charge of the nursery at Menlo Church in Mountain View.

Vanessa has a private practice in Wholistic Wellness, with a B.A. in Human Biology from Stanford University and several certifications in energy healing. She appreciates her Mexican heritage as well as the culture of France. Vanessa likes going to art museums and ballet performances, gardening, and spending time at the beach. Her family includes daughter Amy, a dog Tia Maria and cat Aurora. She is fluent in Spanish and conversational French.

Karinda Shieh– Administrator

Born and bred in Campbell, Karinda has a deep love for the Silicon Valley and its diverse people. Although she grew up in the church, her faith first became real after an encounter with God at Bethany University, where she got a degree as a music teacher. Since then, Karinda spent 10 years as a youth ministry volunteer while teaching Jr. High math and science, then moving on to work in Communications and Community Relations for The Home Church.

Karinda is now a piano teacher in addition to working as the Quicksilver Administrator. In her spare time, she loves making her orchids bloom and getting her garden into shape. Her husband Michael's coffee shop is her favorite place to connect with friends. She dreams of a historical tour of Europe, owning a cat, and discipling people into relationship with Jesus.
